Pontus Kjerrman (born in 1954 in Gothenburg, residing in Copenhagen since 1979).
Sculptor, painter, graphic artist.
Pontus Kjerrman is educated at the Gothenburg Art School and at The Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts Sculpture School under Willy Ørskov and a Stuccatore education under Per Thostrup.
Pontus Kjerrman has been a lecturer at The Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts for 35 years. Throughout all these years, he has also had a significant artistic production. Pontus' art is characterized by being both realistic and unrealistic. He is well known for his mythical beasts. Often, man is represented by a horse - a horse is diligent and hardworking. Woman is often expressed as a cat - somewhat mysterious and unattainable - the cat is entirely its own. Pontus works with plaster, clay, and bronze. He is also known as both a painter and graphic artist.
Pontus undertakes several projects together with his spouse, Tine Hecht-Pedersen.
Pontus Kjerrman is represented at the Statens Museum for Kunst, Kunsten Museum of Modern Art, Aalborg, Vejle Art Museum, among others. In addition, his installations adorn the urban landscape in many cities - just to mention a few - 'Vandkunsten' in Køge, 'Vandkunst, drikkevandsfontæne og bænk' in Vejle, 'Welcome to my World' in Billund (where the mythical beast greets the LEGO Technic man). Pontus Kjerrman is a member of BKF, the Artists' Society, and the jury of the Academy Council.
