Guðrún Vera Hjartardóttir (b. 1966, Reykjavík) is a visual artist whose practice focuses primarily on sculpture and site-specific installations. She studied at the Iceland College of Arts and Crafts, completed a BA at AKI – Academie voor Beeldende Kunst in the Netherlands, and holds an MA in Art Education from the Iceland University of the Arts.

From the outset of her career, the human body—most often her own—has been a central subject in Guðrún Vera's work. Through the body she explores human existence, the spaces we inhabit, and the interrelationship between body, mind, and society.  Her works emerge from intuition and lived experience, driven by nature, philosophy, and the flow of perception. They create immersive environments in which viewers are invited to reflect upon their own emotions and personal experiences.

Guðrún Vera has exhibited widely in Europe, the United States, China, and Iceland. She has held numerous solo exhibitions, including at the Reykjavík Art Museum, Kópavogur Art Museum – Gerðarsafn, and Broadway Gallery in New York. Her works are held in the collections of the National Gallery of Iceland, the Reykjavík Art Museum, and Gerðarsafn in Kópavogur, as well as in several other public and private collections.
